Cherry blossom petals flutter by as the sound of echoing footfalls tap across the stone pavement. The sound of carriages rolling along the road, the bustle of the city that illuminates even at night …

Welcome to a world that blends the flourish of Western culture with the traditions of Japan: Taisho Roman.

WHAT IS THE TAISHO ERA?

The Taisho era follows after the Meiji era, where Western cultures entered Japan and the acceptance of modernisation became more apparent. Although the Taisho era was relatively short, it was a fairly prosperous time for Japan. It was also known as Taisho Roman (short for “Taisho Romanticism”), due to the thrive of fashion, literature and the arts, and the influence of architecture from the West.

※Although the group is set in an era inspired by Taisho, the story line will not be following any of the same historical events; any similarities are pure coincidence. Additionally, please note that we are not romanticising the era in any way, we're merely using it to paint the picture for our group.

“It is said that heaven does not create one man above or beneath another man. This means that when men are born from heaven they all are equal”- Fukuzuwa Yukichi

A school that prides itself in being the first to allow coeducation between students of different social statuses. Despite its traditional name, Tenshoutei boasts that the education they provide is the most contemporary for its time.
The school building was recently remodelled after Western architecture for a grander look, however the old building remains next to it until demolition. The school itself is located on top of a hill surrounded by forest. At the foot of the hill nearby lies the bustling shopping district of Kagurazaka.
